New GEAR! – DynaGlo Vertical Offset Smoker!

Well, I did it, the price was right, and after a couple drinks, I figured what the hell, why not, and bought a DynaGlo Vertical Offset smoker.

Here is the unboxing and assembly and maiden voyage!!

The box arrived, and I was excited!

pretty well packed…

This was probably the hardest part – getting the thing out of the box by myself – wish I had a partner!

The firebox and all the other brackets and things came in boxes inside of the smoker – taking tips from IKEA yo!

They say it’s going to take 15 minutes! wow! It was more like a half hour, but again, I didn’t have help..  and I’m kinda poor when it comes to putting shit together.

Check! got all my stuff.

Look at all that.. .

This was probably the 2nd hardest – getting this firebox on by myself .. another person would have helped tremendously. Flipping it over was easier than attaching it. once I had 1 screw in, the rest were easier…

flipped!

1 handle and the smoke stack – I was kind of disappointed with the other handle..  the holes didn’t line up and I had to force the screw in..

Can’t really tell from the picture, but the bottom hole on the left side of the bracket was about 1/8″ off…  that’s why it appears to be cranked in a little.

Boom! doors on, racks in, fire box all hooked up! time to season! you should always light a fire in any grill for about an hour before you put any actual food in there. Some residual chemicals and oils are always present from the fabrication process – you need to burn that shit off!

Not going to lie, I’m sure this was on the website, but the actual racks are kind of disappointing.. size wise. This will not fit big stuff. This is for smaller stuff, or stuff you don’t mind cutting up.

12 x 13..  you’re not fitting a packer brisket in there. nope!

Well there it is..  all assembled.

Fired up super easily, but definitely leaking smoke. I plan on getting some lavalock for sure.

Love that firebox..

after a couple hours, I decided to put some meat on that thing!

a rack of ribs and a couple pork rib roasts.. . should be good.

Got the water pan down below – something to keep the temp consistent and keep the chamber moist..  And the final product!

Super good.

I kind of burned my ribs but everything came out tasty. even the burned ribs – look how juicy that rib roast chop is – my gawwwd.

I ate these, now I need to go to bed.

I’ll report more on this, too early to comment on whether it’s an awesome smoker or not. still have to get the feel of it.

but happy to have more gear! used about 2/3 what the weber smokey mountain would have required… love the firebox too.
