Oh Boy, this Po’Boy (Griffon GastroPub)

Griffon Gastropub – what a great place. (http://www.griffongastropub.com/)I’ve been here before, but because of its location, I don’t get here as often as I’d like. I usually also spend a shit-ton of cash on beer when I go there too, so that might be part of the reason that I don’t get there as often as I like. With 100+ beers on tap at the location closest to me, who could blame me? You are bound to have access to beers that you would not find anywhere else – good beers too. Whoever is running the tap-game at Griffon’s has their shit together. That might be why I don’t mind paying as much as $10+ for a 22oz beer.

If you peep that picture above, you’ll see that the screen that plays a slide show of all the beers on tap is at the moment on the ‘Sours’ options. There’s over a Dozen of sours on tap alone! That’s gotta show you that GGP has their beverage game dialed in.

Look at that Belgian Lace friends. Perfect. And yes, that’s cucumber water in the background – pretty sweet, right?

But one thing that’s pretty cool about GGP in addition to having 3 total locations, (closest to me is the clarence transit rd location) They have a pretty interesting menu. Yes there are some standard pub options, but there are also things like ‘Chicken & Waffle Sandwich’  or  ‘Peanut Butter & Jelly Burger’ that taunt you to try something outside of your comfort zone. (which, after a handful of beers is exactly what you’re looking for).

I have been here for food before, and I’ve never really been let down, but this visit’s experience was top notch –

Erica got an order of onion rings, and some Lobster Corn Chowder – both of which she enjoyed a lot. The Onion rings were prepared perfectly – didn’t have to worry about steaming hot onion strands slapping you in the chin. These might have been standard wholesale onion rings, but the fact that they were prepared perfectly shows the care they take in giving you the proper onion ring experience.

I went with the first thing I read on the menu – the Shrimp Po’Boy. I honestly enjoyed this sandwich so much that I would make a trip back to GGP SPECIFICALLY for the Shrimp Po’Boy –

All the ingredients tasted very fresh. Bread like this usually causes the ingredient between it to squirt out all over the place, but it provided the perfect crunch and separation to make each bite clean and perfect. Great Job!

I don’t know how this Po’Boy compares to the home of the Po’Boy, but this particular Po’Boy was delicious, and as I mentioned – I would SPECIFICALLY go back to have this sandwich again. Oh and try a shit ton of new and exciting beers. Cheers!
