Buffalo Brewing Company – good things come in small packages.

A week and change ago, Neal and I wanted to get a drink after work. But Neal was jonesin’ for something different from the norm, so I tossed a few ideas at him, and I told him about a place I hadn’t even tried yet – Buffalo Brewing Company.

I advertised it to him as a tiny little joint that looked like it may have been a 1 garage auto shop or hand-wash car detailing joint back in the day that was apparently outputting some decent beer – he was sold and we went to check it out. Looking at the outside, I really had no idea what to expect when I walked in, heck, if they didn’t have a huge flag sign by the one door, I may have not been sure where to walk in. I felt kind of like maybe I needed to call someone to let me in, but that’s never stopped me from trying a door handle before!

Once you’re through the door, you’re greeted with a very clean and precise looking setup.

The install of this nano-brewery was done extremely well, and I was very impressed. I grabbed a pint of their 1804 american pale ale, and took a look around:

A 2-barrel system – shiny and new – If I was going to get serious about brewing, I would buy a system this size.

Like I said, this place was small, but for such a tight space, they really maximized it – square foot to square foot – super effective.

While set up to offer 8 beers at a time, they had 5 beers on tap that day, and I tried 3 (pints) The pale ale was good, the IPA was really good, and the Porter was probably the best one I’ve had in a while – super tasty – I almost sacked up an got a growler of it for home.

One think you’ll notice right away are the kegs that have been converted into tables

– pretty cool, but they need to be surfaced with something to deaden the blow when you put your glass on it – glass to metal is loud. Maybe I should offer them up a solution, seeing how that’s one of the things I do for a living.

Second thing you’ll notice is the little museum they have:

Old bottles, old certificates, books etc..  There’s even an old safe that adds to the ‘historic’ vibe they’re trying to pull off, which kind of clashes with the ultra refined brew system setup, but you get over it quick.

I had some snacks and was on my way – but I’ll definitely be back! great job guys!
